About the Sponsors
West Sussex County Council
The County Council is acting as joint sponsor of your proposed Academy and has support from partner organisations within the West Sussex Children’s Trust. It is committed to ensuring that local Academies will operate within the framework set by the Children's Trust. It actively supports the outcomes for children set out in the ‘Every Child Matters: Change for Children’ programme.
The County Council shares the Woodard Schools’ ethos - to develop communities through education, valuing, caring and fulfilling the potential of each young person. It will also contribute to an endowment fund for your Academy. As a long-term investment, interest from the endowment fund will be used to provide a range of innovative initiatives to benefit the students, year after year.
Your Academy will maintain the current close working relationship with County Council maintained primary, secondary and special schools, and local Further Education colleges.
Woodard Schools
Woodard Schools has agreed to be the external sponsor of your proposed Academy, should the feasibility project undertaken during the 2007/2008 school year lead to a successful submission to the Government for funding agreement.
With 40 schools throughout England and Wales, a third of which are within the local authority maintained sector, Woodard Schools has the experience and knowledge of running highly successful, well-respected schools. From some of the country’s well-known independent schools to some of our most respected inner city schools, Woodard places great importance on the development of the individual.
Woodard Schools believes that in the 21st century academic success should be a given. It is the pastoral care, the nurturing environment and the opportunities our children receive that allows them to grow into confident individuals, able to flourish and prosper when they leave school.
As part of the Woodard family of schools, your Academy will be able to share in inter-school opportunities, develop new friendships and links for students, their families and school staff, and take part in national musical, social and sporting events.
